Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has advised Malaysian undergraduates studying locally and overseas to equip themselves with hyperconnectivity application skills in efforts to develop the nation.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Deputy President of Umno said these students, as future leaders of the nation, should equip themselves with development in information technology and communications in order to face the ever-increasing challenges.

"Leadership in the future will be even more challenging. You will face people who are informed and know their rights.

At the same time, hyperconnectivity is also needed to build a generation who are global thinkers," he said at the closing ceremony of the National Students Leadership Conference held at the Putra World Trade Centre, here tonight.

The two-day conference which began yesterday was attended by 240 students from local and foreign universities.

Also present was Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

During the ceremony, Muhyiddin also handed over the Best Umno Club Awards to the Medan Umno Club, Indonesia; London Umno Club, Britain; South Korea Umno Club; Mansure Umno Club, Egypt; Auckland Umno Club, New Zealand and New York-East Coast Umno Club, United States.

He also delivered several Umno Education Bureau Awards.

1. 2014 University Administrative Figure Award - Ahmad Zulfadli Jusoh (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn, Malaysia).

2. 2014 University Lecturer Award - Associate Prof Dr Mohd Yahya Mohd Ariffin (Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia).

3. 2014 Best Student Non-Government Organisation Award - Universiti Teknology Mara (UiTM) Student Delegates Council Leaders Alumni Association.

4. 2014 Female Student Leadership Figure Award - Nuramalina Mat Yusoff (UiTM).

5. 2014 Male Student Leadership Award - Nor Mohd Afif Osman (Universiti Teknology Malaysia).

6. Malaysia Umno Education Bureau Special Award - Muhamad Nur Aizat Noor Azam (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia).
