Two construction workers were buried under the PLUS Highway bridge at Jalan Segambut Dalam here when the structure they were working on collapsed.

In the incident this afternoon around 3.30pm, the two labourers were working on a condominium site located next to the bridge.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Operations chief Samsol Maarif Saibani said the two victims were trapped beneath six metres of soil at the site.

"We received a distress call at about 3.57pm and initially deployed 12 firefighters from the Sri Hartamas and Taman Tun Dr Ismail stations," he said.

Samsol said the first victim, a 28-year-old local, was successfully rescued and has been brought to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

"Unfortunately, the second victim, a Bangladeshi, could not be saved in time. He was confirmed dead at 6.08pm."

The victim was known as Nazmul Hossain.
