Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has asked UMNO veteran Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz not to poison the minds of the people by issuing statements that can only bring down UMNO.

Ahmad Bashah said the Kedah Menteri Besar crisis had been resolved, but more important the change in menteri besar was done in accordance with existing laws.

"Don't dispute the issue and keep on mentioning it. It has been lawfully settled," he told reporters after attending a religious ceremony in conjunction with the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj's birthday, here today.

On her Facebook post recently, Rafidah said the political crisis in Kedah which resulted in the resignation of Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, as being the current political culture "where toppling leaders seem to be the 'norm'".

Ahmad Bashah said, as an UMNO veteran, Rafidah should be uniting party members instead of issuing statements that can only divide them.

"We (the state UMNO) requested the Prime Minister to resolve the matter (Menteri Besar crisis), because we wanted to strengthen the state UMNO and make thorough preparations for the coming general election," he said.
