The National Water Services Commission (Span) has approved the stage four Water Supply Rationing Plan, effective Friday.

Syabas assistant general manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department, Priscilla Alfred, said the plan would be implemented simultaneously with Stages One and Three which have been extended until April 30.

Span will announce the details of Stage Four such as the affected areas and implementation schedule tomorrow, she said in a statement here today.

She also said Stages One and Three will continue to be implemented in the affected areas based on the schedule previously issued by Span and Syabas.

Meanwhile, the Cheras Batu 11 and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants which were previously closed due to ammonia contamination have begun operations yesterday after the ammonia level dropped to the Health Ministry's permitted level.

However, the operations at both plants are still under close observation by the company, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd, as it could not be ascertained if the ammonia content would remain at a low level.

The Water Supply Rationing Plan Stage One was implemented following the closure of the two treatment plants.
