Chances of the Malaysian couple, Shalwati Norshal and her husband Azizul Raheem Awaluddin, detained in Sweden, to be released without being found guilty, is slim.

This was said by the Chief Judge and also a lawyer met by Astro AWANI’s Magazine Editor, Zan Azlee while in Sweden.

“Based on my discussion with the Chief Judge and the lawyer there, almost 10,000 such cases occur yearly and only 10% of them manage to return to their children,” said Zan during AWANI745 on Sunday.

Zan added that Swedish law gives priority to each child in the country.

“The government there feel like they have more rights compared to the children’s parents themselves,” he said.

The remand order for Azizul and Shalwati had been extended three times since being detained. Sweden has no limit on being detained.

The couple’s four children are currently in Kota Bharu, Kelantan and will be continuing their studies there.
