The number of flood evacuees in seven districts in Kelantan dropped to 20,524 this afternoon from 21,328 this morning, with the Jeli relief centre closed.

According to the state government's flood portal, all the flood victims from 6,669 families are placed in 73 relief centres, with Pasir Mas still recording the highest number at 11,853 in 33 centres compared to 12,008 this morning.

In Tumpat, the number of flood evacuees also increased with 5,270 housed in eight centres compared to 5,229 previously.

The increase resulted from overflowing of the Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, with the reading now at 10.27 metres, exceeding the danger level of 9 metres.

With the cloudy weather and occurring intermittent heavy downpour, more flood victims may have to be evacuated, especially in the interior areas.

However, the number of flood victims at eight relief centres in Kuala Krai remain at 1,928 from 2,452 in the morning.

In Pasir Puteh, there are now 619 flood victims at four relief centres, Tanah Merah (619/14 centres), Kota Baharu (336/4 centres) while the Jeli has been closed.

There are no major roads closed to traffic, while the number of deaths due to this second wave of floods in the state since Dec 16, remains at four.

In TERENGGANU, the number of flood evacuees dropped further this afternoon with 5,977 remaining at the relief centres compared to 6,746 this morning.

According to the Terengganu National Security Council portal, the highest number of flood victims is in Dungun, at 2,248.

This is followed by Besut (1,347 victims), Kemaman (1,254), Hulu Terengganu (425), Kuala Terengganu (336), Setiu (132) and Marang (40).

There are 27 evacuation centres still operating in Besut, 25 in Dungun, 10 in Kemaman, eight in Setiu, six in Hulu Terengganu, four in Kuala Terengganu and one in Marang.
