The issue of Puteri UMNO members being a sexual outlet for party leaders to gain sponsorship or positions in the party, was an age-old slander recycled by certain parties.

Former Puteri UMNO exco, Datin Seri Ismalina Ismail said, the slander which arose some years ago during a by-election was seen as being reignited with the agenda to tarnish the party.

“What is being spread right now are all recycled claims…I don’t know where this issue is coming from.

“These are all slander concocted during a by-election several years ago.

“I regret the act by such irresponsible parties who are once again spreading these claims to break the ties between UMNO members,” she told Astro AWANI today.

Recently, several websites played up the issue of Puteri UMNO members allegedly being a sexual outlet for some UMNO leaders.

The sites in question had quoted three Puteri UMNO leaders, namely Ismalina, the party wing’s former chief Datuk Seri Rosnah Rashid Shirlin and former secretary Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid as acknowledging the existence of sex politics within UMNO.

However, Ismalina vehemently denied the postings on the sites.

As a matter of fact, she said the slander had only increased her ‘pahala’ and she had no plans of lodging a police report on it just yet.

“I’m just going to let it slide. There are friends who are taking the issue seriously but I don’t want to prolong it.

“However, if the issue continues to affect UMNO’s image as a whole, then maybe we will reconsider lodging a report,” said Ismalina.

She added that at this point in time, the issue was not affecting her good name and called for the public to not believe the slander.
