A Barisan Nasional lawmaker created a stir in Parliament today when he referred an Opposition MP as 'the only one with the ‘kok’ in Dewan Rakyat here today.

The episode temporarily stalled the Dewan Rakyat after Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman addressed Teresa Kok (DAP-Seputeh) as "the only woman with 'kok’ is in Seputeh parliamentary".

Tajuddin uttered the word in his response to an additional question by Datuk Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena) on the government’s effort in raising the bar of local rice production in relative of imported rice.

Before replying the question, Tajuddin shared his view about a certain rally held recently had caused a disturbance among the public following several road closures, before Deputy Speaker Datuk Roland Kiandee interjected and asked him to answer it instead.

Tajuddin continued and laughingly asked, ‘Seputeh (laughed) why? The only woman with 'kok' is in Seputeh parliamentary.'

The remark triggered a loud protest from several Opposition MPs, who demanded Tajuddin to retract his statement.

No action was taken on the Pasir Salak MP as ‘kok’ was an apparent reference to Teresa’s family name.

Khalid Abdul Samad (Amanah-Shah Alam), who was clearly unhappy with the decision stood intervened and called Tajuddin ‘sial’.

Tajuddin retorted and challenged Khalid to leave to ‘resolve’ the matter face-to-face and to use the improper word (sial) outside of Parliament.

Tajuddin left Dewan Rakyat without answering Khalid’s question.
