The Selangor government will make a request to the federal government to make public the agreement on the restructuring of the state's water industry.

Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said this was because the contents of the agreement were subjected to the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

Mohamed Azmin said during the last State Assembly sitting, he had proposed to then Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim that any agreement signed with the federal government should not be subjected to the OSA.

"Unfortunately, the MoU, the Heads of Agreement, and the Master Agreement, all three were signed by the state without giving attention to this particular request.

"So, I'll write a letter to the federal government for the agreement to be disclosed to the public," he told reporters after the State Economic Action Council meeting here on Thursday.

He said the state government's subsidiary, Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB), and the State Economic Planning Unit briefed him on the restructuring process carried out by the previous state government.

On the Langat 2 dam project, Mohamed Azmin said the state government would ensure it had the power to decide that it be done through open tender.

"We want the development cost and operation cost of Langat 2 to not burden the Selangor people," he added.

On a claim by Abdul Khalid's special officer, Faekah Hussin, that he (Mohamed Azmin) had frozen the account for the senior citizens' programme, 'Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE), for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency and the Port Klang state constituency, Mohamed Azmin denied it.

"The programme is still on and the eligible recipients receive the aid," he added.
