Not only does Selangor need a new Menteri Besar, the state also needs a ‘mother’ who can care for the state with love, said PKR delegate Abu Talib Bujang.

He said the nomination of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the Selangor’s new MB is seen as timely and would be useful is various aspects, including the development of the state.

“Selangor needs a mother, for example, see the importance of the thumb; no matter what happens, it always supports other fingers in whatever work they do,” he said in debating the president’s policy speech at the 10th PKR Congress at Stadium Malawati.

Dr Wan Azizah in her speech also touched on various issues concerning Selangor, including emphasising on the need for education capacity building in UNISEL, KUIS and other training centers run by the state.

Abu Talib said Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s failure in running the state became evident as he entered his second term as MB.

“We need to give the right information so that there is no misunderstanding. In the second term, Abdul Khalid said we have a lot of money but what is the purpose if we don’t spend it on the people?” he said.

“Just look at this Malawati stadium, where we are having this congress. There is no water and the toilets are not properly kept,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kelantan delegate Prof Saharum Ibrahim said PKR should be allowed to have its candidate contest in the Pengkalan Kubor by-election.

He said the party could surely win if it has the support of all of its allies in the Pakatan Rakyat.

Meanwhile, a Pahang delegate, Ahmad Nizam Hamid called on everyone to close ranks following the recently concluded party election.
