Tearing down or damaging posters were among the main grouses reported to the police since campaigning started for the 11th Sarawak election as soon as the nomination process ended at 10am on April 25.

State deputy director of strategic planning, crime prevention and community policing, ACP Mohd Haris Daud said 12 police reports were lodged since campaigning had started, comprising various offences but mainly involving issues related to damaging posters.

He added that apart from the 12 police reports, police had also approved 97 permits for political 'ceramah' until May 6.

Speaking to reporters at the state police headquarters, here today, Mohd Haris said 35 were applied by BN candidates, 20 from DAP, 35 from independent candidates and 7 from PAS.
