The Sarawak Chief Minister's Office today denied having issued a statement of warning on the devolution of power to the state.

It referred to a social media post that the office had issued a statement which, among others, purportedly issued a warning to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's administration not to give excuses to delay the devolution of power.

"This office wishes to categorically deny that the Chief Minister has ever made any such statement and in such a manner, including those on all other issues raised therein," it said in a statement.

It said the office considered the statement as an unscrupulous attempt to smear the good name of the Chief Minister, strain the state's cordial relationship with the Federal Government, and for any other purposes only known to the originator of the post. - BERNAMA
