Student activist, Safwan Anang today has been freed after his wife and family offered to fork out a bail of RM5,000.

He was released around 10 o'clock this morning after being brought from the Sungai Buloh Prison to the Jalan Duta Court.

On May 29, Safwan had ended up in prison obecause he was offered to be set free on bail of RM5,000 but rejected it.

Safwan has chosen to be put into prison as a protest to the government as he claimed that the arrest was politically motivated.

Also charged were PKR vice president Tian Chua, Pas member Tamrin Ghafar and Asalkan Bukan Umno (ABU) coordinator Haris Ibrahim.

They were charged under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948 for uttering seditious words at forum.

All four claimed trial to the offence which they allegedly committed at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in Jalan Maharaja Lela here between 8.55pm and 11.15pm on May 13.
