The Vehicle Inspection Chief at the Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (RTD) was charged in the Sessions Court here today with bribery.

Md Zamri Atan@Mohd Salleh, 36, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge Fathiyah Idris.

He was charged with obtaining RM1,000 for himself from one Ng Ken Hing as an inducement to speed up a report on a Perodua Myvi car.

The offence was allegedly committed at the Automotive Engineering Division, Negeri Sembilan RTD at 11 am on July 15, 2013.

Md Zamri was charged under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act and faced an imprisonment for up to 20 years and fine of five times the value of the bribe, if found guilty.

Fathiyah set bail at RM7,000 in one surety.

Deputy public prosecutor from MACC Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi prosecuted, while Md Zambri was unrepresented.
