A restaurant worker was killed, while his employer was seriously injured, when the car they were travelling in was crushed by a triangular iron frame which fell off a trailer at Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang here on Wednesday.

Petaling Jaya Traffic chief DSP Wong Siw Choon said in the 4.20pm incident, the 24-year-old worker died on the spot due to serious head injury and the body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.

He said the car, with the victim's employer, a 43-year-old woman, at the wheel, was travelling towards the Federal Highway alongside the trailer when the iron frame fell onto them.

"We believe the iron is being transported for use in the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project," he told Bernama.

He said the woman employer was sent to the Subang Jaya Medical Centre for treatment.

The driver of the trailer, in his 40s, has been detained to assist investigation.
