Film producer and novelist Raja Azmi Raja Sulaiman was once again denied access to hold a dialogue session with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) students on Sunday.

Raja Azmi, who is the author of 'KARKUMA' was scheduled to the talk with students in conjunction with the university’s ArtFest organised by UiTM Anomalist Production Club. A screening of Raja Azmi’s film ‘…Dalam Botol’ was supposed to take place prior to the dialogue session.

According to Merpati Jingga director, Faisal Mustaffa – who is the publisher of Raja Azmi’s novel – the programme director Rul Iman Nur Rahidzab had personally sent a letter informing them of the cancellation.

“We have tried to contact the higher authority as stated in the letter seeking for an explanation no one has come forward to meet our representatives or Raja Azmi, who at that point in time has reached the venue," said Faisal, adding that the directive could possibly come from the Student Affairs and Alumni division of the university.

“We consider the decision by the student council to cancel the dialogue session as unprofessional and we view it as an attempt to tarnish her reputation,” said Faisal, in a media statement.

On Oct 18, Raja Azmi was barred from holding a dialogue session with International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuantan.

Raja Azmi will continue to promote KARKUMA at MPH Nu Sentral on Nov 9 followed by MPH SACC Mall Shah Alam on Nov 16.
