Proton Holdings Berhad has projected sales of some 3,000 units of its newly launched fourth generation Perdana model by end of this year.

Its chief executive officer, Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Mohd Kenali said, to date, the new Proton model has received bookings of about 900 units since February.

"Proton stopped the production of the Perdana model in 2010, and the latest, the fourth generation Perdana model, is equipped with modern safety features," Ahmad Fuaad said.

According to Ahmad Fuaad, the new Perdana symbolises Proton’s aspiration to give out the best to its customers.

The executive sedan model was unveiled Tuesday by prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the Dataran Gemilang at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), here, today.

The 2.4 litre version comes with a four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC engine producing 178 horsepower and 222Nm torque.
The new Perdana model comes in two variants: A 2.0 litre version which comes with a four-cylinder 16-valve SOHC engine producing 154 horsepower and 189Nm torque, while the 2.4 litre version comes with a four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC engine producing 178 horsepower and 222Nm torque.

The 2.0L variant of the new Proton Perdana is priced at RM113,888, while the 2.4L is at RM138,888.

It is available in six different colours namely Graphite Grey, Sterling Silver, Ruby Red, Cotton White, Midnight Black and Citrine Gold.
