As promised, Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz arrived at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Sultan Azlan Shah, to wait for the arrival of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Nazri who is also the Tourism and Culture Minister arrived at about 1pm with about 50 of his supporters who gathered in front of the MRSm entrance.

Nazri said he made the decision to come to the MRSM despite the police not allowing the debate between him and the for premier to take place there.

"I will await for Tun's arrival. I hope he comes," he said.

The debate between Dr Mahathir and Nazri was initially scheduled to be held on March 25 but was postponed to April 7.

Perak acting police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the application to hold the debate was rejected after taking into consideration factors of safety, public order and protection of public rights and freedom.

He said the organisers had submitted the application form late and the venue chosen, the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM), was a school - a restricted premise under Section 3 of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

The debate has been the talk of the town lately as it would touch on issues including the Bumiputra Malaysia Finance Limited (BMF).
