1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) made a profit of US$488 million (RM1.76 billion) from its business arrangements with PetroSaudi International (PetroSaudi).

1MDB president and group executive director, Arul Kanda, said 1MDB had exited the business relationship with PetroSaudi in 2012 and received back its investments in full, on top of the profit gained.

"These facts, and all details related to this transaction, may be verified by reference to our audited accounts, which are publicly available on the Companies Commission of Malaysia website," Arul said in a media statement late Sunday.

His clarification came hot on the heels of PetroSaudi’s statement earlier Sunday which had refuted allegations that it had siphoned billions from the government-owned strategic development company.

Meanwhile, DAP leader Lim Kit Siang had called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the issues surrounding 1MDB.
