The police will be investigating controversial blogger known as Papagomo for allegedly assaulting a foreign worker, as seen in a video which has gone viral recently, Malay Mail Online reported Friday.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said Papagomo, whose full name is Muhammad Azri Wan Deris will be questioned for undermining the role of the police by taking the law into his own hands.

“We don’t want people to be taking law into their own hands. Either a foreigner or local, they are subjected to the laws here. If we take action by ourselves on anyone be it a foreigner or not, it is a mistake,” Noor Rashid told reporters here today.

“We will take action if there is a police report lodged. We will investigate it even if there is no police report because this issue has gone viral,” he explained.

He also warned the public to not follow Muhammad Azri's actions in which he described as a mistake.

Yesterday, a Facebook video showing the blogger slapping, punching, and kicking a foreign worker went viral on social media.

On the video's description, Muhammad Azri said it was a reaction towards the foreign worker’s alleged sexual harassment against his two sisters and their two friends.

The video showed Muhammad Azri asking his sister, who was not in the video, to identify the alleged foreign worker.

After identifying the man, he started punching and slapping the worker and mindlessly told him to “respect Malaysian people”.

He also defended his actions, saying it was something that any brother would do for a sister and believed it was difficult to bring a foreign worker to justice when it comes to sexual harassment.
