Police have not issued any statement or warning about an alleged new tactic by robbers and rapists to lure potential female victims.

The statement has made its rounds through social media read (published verbatim below);

Important message for all women who are going to work, schools, colleges Alone. If there is a child crying on the streets and show you his home address and ask you bring him to that address, please take him to the nearest police station. Never ever bring him to that address. This is the latest tactic of robbers, kidnappers and rapists!

Responding through its official Facebook page, the police said that the message supposedly signed off by an “ASP Suman Kumar” is not an official message.

“Such a notice has been distributed through email several years ago and the police have denied it then.

“Once again we would like to stress that there is no officer by the name of ASP Suman Kumar attached to the D9 (serious crimes division) in Bukit Aman. We will use our official platforms to disseminate such information.

“However, we value the tip to take a lost child to the nearest police station,” the statement concluded.
