All top up lanes for PLUSMiles and Touch 'n Go cards along the North-South Expressway will be closed for a week during Aidilfitri celebrations, beginning Saturday.

Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan (PLUS) Malaysia Berhad Central Region manager Yusuf Abdul Aziz said this was one of the measures taken to avoid traffic congestion at its toll plazas.

"However, our customer service centres at several toll plaza will be operating as early as 7 am until 10 pm daily for the (highway) users to top up (their cards).

"We also advise users to top up their cards before they embark on their journey. This can be done at a number of places including petrol stations and ATMs," he said when contacted by Bernama.

Due to the increase of 1.6 million vehicles anticipated along the PLUS expressway during this festive season, Yusuf said several areas would experience unusual traffic congestion, such as between Slim River and Kuala Kangsar in the north and between Pedas Linggi and Melaka in the south.

However, users are reminded not to abuse the emergency lane or face stern action by the authority, he said, adding that they can contact PLUSline at 1-800-88-0000 to obtain traffic information, PLUSRonda assistance and other information.
