Petronas will introduce the Visa payWave at seven of its convenience stores this month to become the first petrol service station network in the country to provide speedy and easy contactless payments.

The Visa payWave is Visa's contactless payment technology will enable cardholders to make faster payments in a conducive and secure manner, simply by waving their card against a contactless reader.

Petronas, in a statement today, said the service terminals would be placed at Kedai Mesra in NKVE Damansara, Jalan Kolam Ayer, Solaris Putra, Solaris Serdang, Putrajaya Precint 16, USJ 20, and KLCC.

"The partnership with Visa in bringing its contactless payment technology to Kedai Mesra was made with the aim of providing fast, easy and secure transactions to our customers across Malaysia.

"We are in the midst of expanding the network of contactless payment system to more Petronas stations," Petronas Dagangan Bhd Senior general manager (Retail Business Division) Shaharuddin Muhammad Sidek said.

Petronas has over 1,000 Petronas service stations nationwide, offering refuelling, shopping, dining and banking.
