The Penang state government has allocated RM1.5 million to assist the states ravaged by floods.

Penang EXCO of Welfare, Caring Society and Environment, Phee Boon Poh in a statement said the money has been transferred to the Akaun Amanah as instructed by chief minister Lim Guan Eng.

“I have been authorised to draw down RM500,000 each time to utilise the fund to supply aids such as milk powder, sanitary towel and portable water. Documentations to be followed in the next exco meeting.

“This is also with the consent of the exco members,” he said.

A disaster relief team will also be mobilised to Kelantan on Monday.

“There is a first batch of 18 welfare officers and social volunteers will be sent to Kelantan on Monday. They have the experience serving in the relief evacuation centre during the flood in Pahang,” Phee said.

The Sungai Puyu assemblyman also said the state is in the midst of arranging logistics and transportation as a lot of places are not accessible due to the the rising water.
