Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir does not feel it was wrong to visit Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, after the latter was removed from the Deputy Prime Minister’s post.

However he said, he is ready to face any political consequences from the move.

He said, he paid Muhyiddin a visit on the capacity of Kedah Menteri Besar, to thank the former Education Minister for assistance rendered to Kedah.

Mukhriz explained, the visit is nothing out of the ordinary. He said no issues had been raised he visited the family of the late PAS Mursyidul Am, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, following his death.

“I don’t see what I did was wrong. It is better if you asked someone else that question. Should action be taken against me for visiting a former leader to extend by gratitude? I feel it’s not wrong,” he said when met after an the Jerlun UMNO division open house in Alor Setar today.

“However I’m ready to face any consequences for my actions,” he said.

Mukhriz was asked to comment on rumours that his position as Menteri Besar was said to be at stake after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak reshuffled the Cabinet on Tuesday.

On the audio recording between Muhyiddin, Mukhriz and Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir regarding allegations that RM2.6 billion was transferred into the Prime Minister’s account, Mukhriz did not deny the conversation took place.

Mukhriz explained he could not stop Muhyiddin in discussing whatever he wanted in his own home.

Abdul Kadir had also confirmed the conversation took place but did not provide further details. He stressed it was a private conversation and should not have been recorded.

Muhyiddin has yet to comment on the audio recording.

Meanwhile, UMNO Supreme Council member, Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was confident the Prime Minister will answer to all the issues raised following the audio recording and urged all parties to be patient.

“I’m confident Najib will not ignore the matter. He will provide an explanation, just be patient,” he was quoted by Malaysiakini as saying.
