Actor Paul Walker, best known in his role in the ‘The Fast and the Furious’ series, has died following a “single-car accident and explosion”, according to a report on entertertainment website TMZ.

He was 40 years old.

The exclusive report, citing “multiple sources connected to Paul”, said that the fiery accident occurred in Santa Clarita— north of Los Angeles, Southern California.

“The actor was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree ... and then the car burst into flames,” said the report.

A police rep at the Los Angeles Country Sheriff’s department also told E! News that the authorities arrived to find the vehicle already engulfed in flames.

After the flames were extinguished, two victims were found inside the vehicle. Both were pronounced dead.

TMZ reported that Walker was in Santa Clarita for a car show to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort, and had been taking friends out for rides in his new Porsche GT.
