Even though PAS's Syura Council (the party's highest decision making body) has decided to continue supporting Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor Menteri Besar, a PAS leader in Selangor said the council may change its stand should misconduct in his administration be proven.

Selangor PAS Deputy Commissioner III Khalid Samad said this was following various allegations against Abdul Khalid, including a deal with a bank over a loan agreement.

"The Syura Council was confident that Tan Sri Abdul Khalid had no cases to answer, so that's why it supported him, but with such allegations I want him to explain himself.

"Abdul Khalid has to defend himself. I give him until Aug 17 to explain how he settled his loan without our (opposition coalition) knowledge," he told during a news conference here on Friday.

Information on the loan settlement was exposed by the PKR in a 24-page report, which was said to have been distributed to leaders and members of the opposition coalition since Aug 5.

Commenting further, Khalid, who is also Shah Alam MP, said he knew about the loan settlement involving the Menteri Besar after he received the report on the night of Aug 6, after the Syura Council meeting (which endorsed Abdul Khalid) ended.
