The Sarawak state assembly seats being contested by PAS will be announced on March 12, said Deputy President Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

"We have already decided that Pas will be contesting 11 seats in the upcoming Sarawak state elections.

"However, the location of the seats will only be officially announced on March 12 in Sarawak," said Tuan Ibrahim.

Asked why the Islamist party only contesting at 11 out of the 82 seats available, Tuan Ibrahim said the party deliberated on the seats they have a decent chance of winning.

"No party will contest all seats. We chose seats that we believe PAS can win," answered Tuan Ibrahim during a press conference at the PAS headquarters on Saturday.

On the overlapping of seats between PAS and PKR, Tuan Ibrahim said his party has already agreed not to contest the same seat that PKR is contesting.

"However, there are one or two seats where the parties overlapped. Nevertheless, the discussion is still ongoing," said Tuan Ibrahim.

He added that PAS would also be fielding a candidate from its Supporters' wing (DHPP) for the first time in Sarawak.

"We have identified all the candidates and they will be referred to Syura Council for the vetting process," he said.
