PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang hopes that the new cabinet announced today is able to carry out its duties and responsibilities in a fair and transparent manner.

He said it was too early for PAS to express its stand on the new cabinet announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, as the party needed to look at the line-up's ability to continue the task of running the country.

"We cannot say we agree or not (with the new cabinet line-up). We'll see how they carry out their tasks, especially on issues affecting the people and the country," he told reporters, here, today.

He had earlier chaired the PAS Central Committee's daily meeting at the party's headquarters, here.

Najib today announced the new cabinet line-up, with Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi appointed as the new deputy prime minister, replacing Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was dropped.

Meanwhile, Hadi warned all PAS members not to be involved with Gerakan Harapan Baru if they did not want any action to be taken against them, or their membership revoked.

"We will wait for a full report from the states before taking action. We cannot act based on the information reported in the media alone," he said.

He also claimed that the PAS central leadership elected in June, still had the support of PAS grassroots leaders, based on meetings he had held with them in several states.

"We have received verygoodresponse, with more than 80 per cent of the grassroots leaders expressing their support for the current central leadership," he said.
