Johor Corporation (JCorp) has clarified that the congestion and commotion at the Sultan Ibrahim Dream Home registration counter on Wednesday was due to unexpected overwhelming response.

JCorp president and chief executive officer Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim in a statement said the incident took place unexpectedly because of the overwhelming response from the people of Johor.

"JCorp through one of its companies Johor Land Berhad together with the Sultan Ibrahim Foundation, initially set up counters for pre-registration and online registration process to be opened for one day only after the event was completed (Thursday).

"However, after receiving advice from the security as the registration counter was inundated by the public and to avoid a stampede or untoward incident, the secretariat decided to open online registration in advance to facilitate the process," he said. -- Bernama
