A young man was beaten to death by a group of men at a car wash centre located at Lebuh Carnovan, Georgetown, on Wednesday.
In the incident which happened approximately at 7.30pm Wednesday, the victim Muneeswaran, 16, who was also an orphan was found dead with bruises and scars throughout his body .
Penang Crime Investigation Division Chief, SAC Datuk Mazlan Kesah said the incident is caused by the dissatisfaction with the employer towards the victim after he was accused of stealing.
"We believe that he was beaten after we found a roll of wire measuring approximately three feet at the scene. The victim is believed was beaten up by using a wire.
"During the investigation, police also found that there are probabilities that the victim was accused because stealing goods here, " he said.
Following the incident, the police are currently investigating the period of the teenager was working there as he is still under the care of a private orphanage in Jalan Scotland.
The investigation, said Maslan revealed that there were more than two suspects involved in the incident which there is a probability an involvement from the employers.
He added that the two suspects, aged between 36 and 38, have been identified and the police are searching for them.
Preliminary inspection also discovered a broken plastic chair and a 0.9-metre electric cable believed to be used by the suspect to hit the victim.a
Mazlan added that the premise is operating without a license.
The victim’s body was sent to Penang Hospital for autopsy and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Mazlan also urged the public with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station for further investigation.
