UMNO members are reminded not to be carried away with the internal issues of the Opposition parties.

UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussien reminded members to focus on ensuring Barisan Nasional led by UMNO remain strong and stay united to be continued accepted by the people.

He said what is currently happening between PAS and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) proved that there is no understanding between them.

"Don't expect too much from the disunity and weakness in the Opposition now. Their weakness does not mean we are strong," he said at a press conference here today.

"Rather than focusing on their internal issues, it is better for us to pay attention on how to strengthen ourselves," he added.

He said severing the tahaluf siyasi or political cooperation between the two parties only proved that their political cooperation before this was only a marriage of convenience.

He said this is the difference between the Opposition and the BN.

Hishammuddin said there was no reason to reject Pas's openness to work with other Islamic parties but that does not mean political alliances.

Pas delegates at the party's 63rd Muktamar today have unanimously agreed to end all political cooperation with PKR.

The motion will now be brought to the Pas Syura Council to be further deliberated.
