A woman was killed while 30 others were injured when two bombs exploded in the middle of the town here late last night, according to Thailand Police.

Muang district police chief, Col Kirati Waeyusoh said the first attack happened at the parking lot of an entertainment outlet at 11pm (local time) while the second, in front of a hotel.

"The second bomb exploded at the entrance of Southern View Hotel not long after the first incident and caused a fire. The homemade bomb weighing 100kg was placed in a car," he said today.



He said firefighters took 30 minutes to douse the flames resulting from the second bomb explosion, which had also caused major damage to the surrounding business premises.

Kirati said another homemade bomb exploded in the district of Nongchik in the Pattani province at midnight but did not cause any death or injury.

Police are still investigating the motive and tracking down the culprits, he said.
