A woman died while nine others were injured in an accident involving three vehicles at Kilometer 260 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) near the Port Dickson Toll Plaza, last night.

Operations officer of the Seremban Fire and Rescue Station, K. Putthiganami said that in the incident at about 11.30 pm, the 45-year-old passenger of a Toyota Innova was killed at the scene after being flung out of the vehicle.

The injured victims were four adults, comprising a man and three women, and four children and a youth aged between three and 16 years, he told Bernama here today.

He said a Toyota Vios car carrying three members in a family had skidded before hitting the road divider and stopping in the middle of the expressway.

This resulted in a Toyota Innova carrying seven members of a family and a Proton Preve carrying a husband and wife crashing into the stalled Toyota Vios car, he added.

"The accident caused the engine of the Proton Preve to catch fire. However, the husband and wife escaped injury and were taken out of the vehicle by members of the public before 10 firemen arrived at the location," he said.

Putthiganami said the body of the woman was sent to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital for autopsy while the other injured victims were also taken to the same hospital for treatment. -- Bernama
