Deputy Home Minister designate Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed today announced that he will relinquish his position as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.

He also announced that all proceedings scheduled in August including 1MDB, will be temporarily halted until the new PAC members are appointed by the Parliament.

“Focus now will be given to the aspect of maintaining public order and improve public perception towards the government,” he said in a statement today.

“The focus is also to assist Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the Home Minister,” he added.

Apart from Nur Jazlan, other PAC members who have been appointed into the Cabinet are Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau.

Reezal Merican was appointed as Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, while Mas Ermieyati as Deputy Tourism Minister today.

Another PAC member, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau was appointed as the new Science, Technology and Innovation Minister.

PAC had before this scheduled to call 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy and former 1MDB CEO Datuk Shahrul Ibrahim Halmi on August 4 and 5 in the probe into 1MDB affairs.

PAC had also said that it will call businessman Jho Low or his real name Low Taeck Jho in the 1MDB probe.
