"It is not wrong to bring the doping case involving Chong Wei to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)."

That was the comment made by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in response to Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tunku Imran Tuanku Jaafar's advice not to bring the doping case of top national shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei to CAS.

"CAS is a channel for us to appeal. No one will say we are not serious about the issue if we bring the (doping) case to CAS," he told newsmen after attending the UMNO Youth towhall meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre Saturday.

Khairy also considered the advice made by the OCM president as "weird".

"That call appears as if someone is brought to the courts and found guilty, he is not able to appeal that decision. I find that advice as weird.

"If the decision by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) is not in Chong Wei's favour, then he is able to bring it to CAS," he said.

According to Khairy, his side takes the doping issue involving Chong Wei seriously and is committed to resolve the matter.

"It doesn't mean we do not take the doping issue seriously and it doesn't mean we do not accept BWF's decision. We accept but we can still appeal and in this case, at CAS," he said.

Chong Wei was previously tested positive for dexamethasone in the sample B test which was conducted in Oslo University Hospital, Norway.
