No party could arbitrarily ask Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign due to the allegations made against him, said Kalabakan MP Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh.

He said calls for his resignation should not be entertained, as Najib was duly elected with the support of the people, as well as the party's leadership.

"The allegation that about US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) from 1MDB funds were channelled into the prime minister's personal account is something which does not make sense.

"It is a malicious claim by certain individuals and the opposition. People should not believe this wild and baseless allegation reported by the Wall Street Journal recently," he said.

Abdul Ghapur was speaking to reporters after handing over prayer rugs, copies of the Quran and air-conditioners to mosques in the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency, here, today.

Abdul Ghapur said the contribution from Kalabakan UMNO division would be distributed to all mosques in the constituency.

"I hope with this contribution, all the mosques in the area are well-equipped," he said.
