PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat today agreed with all the decisions made at the meeting of the PAS Central Working Committee yesterday which rejected the leadership of Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Nik Abdul Aziz said the move to support the decision was made after he had held a closed-door meeting with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali here.

"I have heard the explanation from the PAS president and secretary-general and I gave my full support for the decision of the PAS Central Committee.

"Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) we maintain the decision in the Pakatan (Rakyat) or opposition pact and I support what was decided yesterday," he said at a press conference at his office at the 'Institut Pemikiran Tok Guru' in Kota Darul Naim, here.

Abdul Hadi and Mustafa were also present at the press conference.

Previously, the PAS Ulama Consultative Council headed by Nik Abdul Aziz had decided to give full support to Abdul Khalid to remain as the menteri besar.

Yesterday, the PAS central working committee had also decided to propose two names, namely Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali to replace Abdul Khalid.

When asked why he supported Wan Azizah whereas his previous decision was different, Nik Abdul Aziz responded: "Whoever becomes MB (menteri besar) depends on the consent of the Sultan".

Abdul Hadi later said the decision of the party was based on the prevailing situation, where the support for Abdul Khalid was because he was then a member of the PKR.

"At that time, Abdul Khalid was still in PKR and now he has been expelled and the problem regarding him no longer exists," he said.
