Malaysia's Datuk Nicol David was shown the exit by Egypt's Nouran Gohar in the China Open squash championships in Shanghai, China on Friday.

In a quarterfinals held at the glass court mounted at the terrace of The Peninsula Hotel, Nicol lost 1-3 to the 17-year-old player and world number 17.

The tournament's top seed started off well after she managed to conquer the first set, winning it on 11-9.

However, the Egyptian teenager regained her composure in the next set to level the game with 11-8 win.

She continued to conquer, winning the game in the next two sets with 11-5 and 11-8.

While the newly crown world number one and tournament's second seed, Raneem El Welily marched to the last eight after her opponent Annie Au of Hong Kong's Annie Au retired from the game.

Raneem was leading the match 11-2 and 11-0.

The other quarterfinal matches saw France's Camille Serme beat England's Sarah-Jane Perry with 11-7, 11-7 and 11-7, while United States' Amanda Sobhy defeated England's Emma Beddoes 11-4, 11-5 and 11- 8.
