Property developer, See Hoy Chan Sdn Bhd, is set to open its community mall in Damansara Uptown neighbourhood, called 'The Starling' mall by end-November 2016, with an estimated gross development value
of RM600 million.

CEO, Joe Tan, said the mall, also known as The Mall in a Park, was 90 percent completed and already has 85 per cent occupancy rate.

"We expect the rate to reach 90 percent by the time it opens.

"At the moment, we have 95 tenants. Food and beverages represent 35 percent of the tenants, fashion (20 percent), home decoration (10 percent) and the rest supermarket and entertainment," he told reporters after the unveiling of The Starling's tenants, Monday.

Among the tenants are Baskin Robbins, Starbucks Coffe, Sushi Zanmai & Shojikiya, The Teh Tarik Place, Sasa, Padini Concept Store, Daiso, Popular and MBO Cinema.

The 42,000 sq metre Starling will feature a five-storey mall surrounded by green landscape.

Tan said the mall was built to cater to customers' convenience.

"It will have an upgraded traffic flow system soon to further smoothen the traffic flow within Damansara Uptown.

"In regards to the parking woes in Damansara Uptown, a total of 6,758 carparks would be available once all the development works are completed.

"We will also be opening up parking in the basement of office towers during the weekends for the public to park," Tan said.

Commenting on the stiff competition, he said, the mall would do well because of the captive daily working population of about 20,000 and a conservative approximation of 8,000 visitors daily. -- Bernama
