Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police have found new indicators to find the suspect who shot two policemen at Taman Lembah Maju earlier today.

"We have found new indicators in the case and what I can say is that these are among the challenges often faced by the police," he said when met at the Ampang Hospital, today.

He advised all policemen to be more cautious when patrolling areas with high crime rates.

Earlier today, Lance Corporal Lional Richard Jr, 26, and Constable Zul Fazli Atlahi, 28, were shot by a suspect believed to be wearing a pair of jeans and a yellow top, at Jalan Lembah Maju 1/16, Taman Lembah Maju, Pandan Indah.

Lional sustained injuries on his stomach while Zul Fazli was injured in his crotch.

Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the suspect, believed to be in his 30s, and his friend were waiting for victims they could rob.

"Based on their suspicious behaviour, we believe that they were looking for victims that they could rob and that area is crowded with people," Rahim said.

The two victims are currently in stable condition and the operation to remove the bullet from Lance Corporal Lional's stomach is expected to be done by this evening.
