Two of the new four-car Malaysian-made monorail trains will go into service tomorrow, marking a new era in the history of the Rapid KL rail service.

Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said a third set was already undergoing testing and commissioning.

"The fourth set is scheduled to be delivered by the end of the month, with the remaining nine sets to be delivered in stages next year," Rapid Rail chief executive officer Khairani Mohamed said in a statement today.

Apart from the new trains, Rapid Rail had also upgraded all its 11 stations by installing universal access features, extension of the stations' platform as well as constructing a new wing at the Bukit Bintang station.

Rapid Rail, a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, is the operator of the Rapid KL Monorail line.
