A Nepalese man was found hanged with both hands tied behind him at a shophouse in Jalan Sri Bahari here, last night.

The body of Daya Shankar, 34, was hanging from a wall post in a room, which was locked from the inside, by the owner of the shophouse at 8.10pm.

North East District Police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the owner of the shophouse, who was wondering why his calls went unheeded, resorted to breaking down the door of the room.

He said the body was sent to the Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.

"So far, no elements of crime are connected to the case. The victim lived alone in the room and worked as a security guard," he said in a statement here, today.

Nonetheless, he said investigations were still going on, and those with information on the man are urged to contact the police to help in the investigations.
