Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz challenged Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to contest the Pekan parliamentary seat in the coming general election if he wanted to end Datuk Seri Najib Razak's political career.

The Padang Rengas Member of Parliament said he also welcomed the former premier to contest in his constituency.

"The way to bring down Najib is to contest him in Pekan," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby Wednesday.

Dr Mahathir has been openly criticising Najib and calling the UMNO president to step down over the issue on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the RM2.6 billion fund which was deposited into the Prime Minister's personal bank account.
