Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says he is saddened over the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 which was flying from Surabaya to Singapore.

It had reportedly lost contact with Jakarta air traffic controller at approximately 7.24am (local time).

On Twitter, Najib said “Malaysia stands ready to help.”


AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Tune Group Tan Sri Tony Fernandes in a tweet urged the public to stay strong.

The #PrayForQZ8501 hashtag is currently trending, with politicians offering their prayers to those onboard the missing flight.
