Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Thursday received a courtesy call from the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Imam Ali Omar Yacoub Abbasi at his official residence Seri Perdana, here.

Present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom; Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Azeez Abdul Rahim and chief imam of the National Mosque Tan Sri Syeikh Ismail Muhammad.

Najib and his guests later performed the Maghrib, Isyak and Hajat (special) prayers led by Ali Omar to pray for Malaysia and Palestine.

Ali Omar in the meeting with Najib expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister's over his continuous efforts in defending Palestine and the Al Aqsa's Mosque, including when conveying his speech at the United Nations General Assembly recently.

He said there were not many Muslim leaders who dared to raise the issue of Palestinians and openly condemn Israel's oppression as what Najib has been doing.

The imam of the Al-Aqsa Mosque also prayed for Malaysia to be always blessed with prosperity and Najib himself to be able to face challenges to continue to lead the country.
