The UMNO division in Kluang is steadfast in its decision to invite the party’s Deputy President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to officiate the delegates’ meeting scheduled for August 2.

Kluang UMNO deputy chief, Md Norhalim Md Amin said, the division will not follow in the footsteps of two UMNO divisions which had retracted their invite for Muhyiddin to officiate their delegates' meetings.

The two divisions are Raub and Sungai Besar.

Md Norhalim said, preparations for the meeting are already in the works and no changes have been planned.

“Preparations for the meeting scheduled for August 2 have already been done since last month.

“We will invite Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and until today no changes have been made. We support the (Johor) menteri besar’s stand on the matter and UMNO Johor’s open policy,” he said.

Norhalim said, Muhyiddin’s removal was between the government and the former Deputy Prime Minister.

However he said, UMNO grassroot members in Johor still respected the former Education Minister who had put unity and the party’s interest before himself.

Kluang is the first UMNO division which had invited Muhyiddin to officiate its delegates’ meeting after he was removed as Deputy Prime Minister on Tuesday.

Apart from Kluang, Muhyiddin is also expected to officiate the Pagoh UMNO division delegates’ meeting on Sunday.

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin previously said there were no objections imposed on any division in the state that wanted Muhyiddin to officiate their delegates’ meeting.
