Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has apologised to the candidates sitting for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examinations and their parents for the leakage involving the Science paper which lead to its postponement on September 30.

“I would like to apologise to all parents and students and I was informed by the Examinations Board director Dr Na’imah Ishak the new date for the paper has been set on September 30,” he said.

Muhyiddin, who also holds the Education Ministry portfolio, hopes the postponement will not distract the students on their studies.

He added the matter would be investigated thoroughly so as to avoid its recurrence.

“The Examinations Board has reported the matter to the police for a thorough investigation and I hope this matter with not recur,” Muhyiddin said.

He was speaking to reporters after announcing the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election in Tumpat, today.

The Science paper (018, 028 and 038) for the 2014 UPSR examinations scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to the leakage.

The new date for the three papers has been set on September 30.

The Examinations Board, in a statement issued earlier, said initial investigations revealed the contents of the paper had been leaked through social media.
