Ann Osman made the country proud when she defeated former world boxing champion Ana Julaton last night at Asia's biggest professional mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament.

She defeated her Filipino-American opponent through a judges' decision in round three of ONE FC: Reign Of Champions for the women's flyweight category, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday.

After waiting nearly a year since her loss to Singapore’s Sherilyn Lim, the 28-year-old Sabahan seemed fearless when facing the former Women’s WBO and IBA Super Bantamweight champion.

The fight kicked off with Ann displaying some excellent wrestling skills, almost submitting Julaton in the first round.

Ann attempted an armbar in the second round but Julaton managed escape and retaliated with some hard punches.

The third round saw Julaton charging towards Ann, landing her some old fashion powerful blows.

However, Ann managed to tame Julaton's aggression by taking her down, but the position was reversed by Julaton who gave her several knee shots.

The bout went on until the final minute where Ann was pronounced the winner through the judges' split decision.

Another bout involving our own Malaysian fighter saw the country's Muay Thai expert, Ali Yakakub losing to Thailand’s Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke.

Ali was taken down by his opponent and being submitted via a rear naked choke just slightly over two minutes into the first round.

Meanwhile, in the main event, Japan's Shinya Aoki defended his ONE FC lightweight world championship title after easily defeating his Iranian opponent, Kamal Shalorus in round one.

Aoki showcased his superb grappling skills as he submit the former UFC fighter effortlessly with a rear-naked choke, forcing Shalorus to tap out.
