Radio Melayu Perth and its listeners are prepared to offer any assistance for the families of the passengers on the ill-fated flight MH370 who will soon be arriving in Perth, Australia.

Ahmad Fauzi Abdullah and Hanif Mohamad, hosts of the weekly radio show which broadcasts every Saturday from 9pm to 10:30pm on 6EBA 95.3 FM, said that it is their responsibility as Malaysians to help ease the pain of the families.

"Malaysia Airlines (MAS) carries our country's flag and we never thought something like this would happen. We need to wait for actual information and not spread speculations out of respect to the families," Hanif said.

Radio Melayu Perth caters to an approximately 15,000 strong Malay language-listening audience in the city. According to Ahmad Fauzi, the MH370 tragedy has hit the hearts of many in Perth and many are keen to do all they can.

"We are willing to do anything we can, even if it is simply to show them where to eat and stay, just to help them on their way," said Ahmad Fauzi.

Radio Melayu Perth is even asking their listeners and the general public to contribute words of support and encouragement on their Facebook page (facebook.com/radiomelayuperth) for the families of the passengers of flight MH370.

Malaysia Airlines on Sunday released a statement saying that they will only fly family members to Perth once it has been authoritatively confirmed that the physical wreckage found is from flight MH370.

And once they do, a Family Assistance Centre (FAC) will be eatablished in Perth, where all activities concerning the families such as briefings and religious prayers will be conducted.
